Runway Inspired Challenge #73

Hello there and welcome to this week’s Runway Inspired Challenge! We have another awesome inspiration photo and the chance to win a prize from Butterfly Reflections.

Here’s my card:

I was totally inspired by the graphic style of the dress and knew I wanted to reflect that somehow on my card – of course, there are a dozen different ways that you can interpret this, but I went back to my trusty Distress Inks to create a striped background on a white card base.

This was achieved by masking off areas on the card with postit notes and then sponging various colours of Distress Inks onto the exposed areas. I wanted to be quite precise about how I did this so measured equally across the top and bottom roughly 3/8 of an inch apart for each stripe.

Once I’d laid down all the colours, I lightly spritzed with a Perfect Pearl mist and set aside to dry. I made a mark in the middle of one of the stripes and used it as a guide to line some black cardstock up to the edges of the card. This gave me two bold, angled pieces of card which I foam mounted to the card base.

I took a sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Many Thanks set and stamped it onto some red cardstock with black ink. I used a circle die to cut it out and foam mounted it above the area where the two corners of the black card meet.

To finish, I scattered a couple of wood veneer stars to break up all those straight lines.
