Hey crafters, hope you’re well!
Today sees that start of a brand new CAS-ual Fridays Challenge and I’m sure you’re going to love it! The theme is Summer lovin’ and your mission (should you choose to accept it!) is to use hearts in summer colours ;-). This was a no-brainer for me – my Distress Inks had to come out!
I created some quick coloured panels with a range of Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, Festive Berries, Seedless Preserves, Wild Honey, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry) by swiping them onto my craft sheet, spritzing with a Perfect Pearls / water mixture and then laying some white cardstock into the inky puddles. I heat set and repeated the process until I achieved the desired effect. Once all the panels were dry, I used the Heart Board Fri-Die to cut out all the various hearts (this die is awesome because you get five die-cuts in one pass! Result!).
I now have lots and lots of different coloured hearts in various sizes on my craft desk but that’s OK, because it means I can make more cards using the same concept! I started arranging a selection of the hearts in a range of colours onto a card base, and where two hearts intersected I snipped delicately with a pair of scissors.
When I was happy with my arrangement, I used Glossy Accents to adhere the hearts together along with some strategically place foam pads to create a sense of depth and movement – you’ll notice that the hearts aren’t completely stuck down and almost look like they would fly away!
I stamped a really simple sentiment from the Wallflower set but really, you could add anything to this card – I think it would be suitable for more that one occasion, right?!
There’s more inspiration from the rest of the DT over at the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge blog, where you’ll find more details about the fabulous prize that’s up for grabs!
Thanks for looking 😉
Love this design, I was intrigued as to how you linked the hearts, so TFS! The colours look fantastic, Cathy x
I love it!! The colouring of the hearts was such a good idea and they look brilliant against all that white. And your right, there are so many sentiments that could go with this card and with all your extra die-cut hearts the possibilities are endless!
