Hello there and welcome to this week’s Runway Inspired Challenge! We have another awesome inspiration photo and the chance to win a prize from Ellen Hutson.
Here’s my card:
I have to say, this card ended up being very different to what I originally had in mind. I started by creating a background with Distress Inks, using colours that I thought matched the model’s dress (Black Soot, Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles and Ripe Persimmon). But, as you can see, I didn’t use an awful lot of it!
I liked how the combination of inks mixed with each other, but didn’t feel like I could use the panel on an entire card front – so instead, I used the Birthday Script Creative Cut from Mama Elephant to die-cut the word ‘birthday’ from some black cardstock, orange cardstock and from the inky panel itself.
I adhered the three die-cut pieces together with small blobs of Glossy Accents, but at a jaunty angle from one another. I set this piece aside to work on the card front.
I partially inked up a sentiment from My Favorite Things Birthday Chalkboard Greetings and stamped with black dye ink onto the card base. I love how the combination of die-cut and stamped sentiments from two different companies works so well together – means you can stretch your stamps so much further!
I adhered the die-cut element just above the stamped sentiment with Glossy Accents, and used a black gemstone for the dot on the ‘i’. I also added a couple of sequins to finish off 😉

Love the curve of the stamp to match the die, and the colored die cut looks fab!
