Hello there and welcome to this week’s Runway Inspired Challenge!

With the Oscars taking place last month, we thought we’d do something different for this week’s challenge. Each DT member has chosen their own inspiration photo from some of the red carpet looks. Here’s the one I went for:

Doesn’t Rita Ora look gorgeous?! I thought the navy and gold was a beautiful colour combination and wanted to see if I could prepare a card based on this look – this is what I came up with:

I began by stamping the Penny Black 40-283 Floral Tapestry background onto some dark blue, pearlescent cardstock with Versamark Ink, sprinkling with clear embossing powder and heat setting.

I then sponged some Delicata Golden Glitz ink into the non-embossed areas – the areas that were embossed simply resisted the ink and meant I could wipe away any excess. I also brushed some Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls over the inked areas to make the gold a bit more intense. Again, I wiped away any excess powder. Here’s a close up

I also took the Delicata Golden Glitz ink pad directly to a kraft card base to colour an area near the top of the card and set aside. To finish up the embossed / inked panel, I used the LittleB Block Out dies to die-cut the sentiment and foam mount to the card base, revealing the gold through the apertures.

As a further embellishment, I adhered a bow just below the sentiment, which was made up using this Tiny Bow die from Memory Box. There’s also a scattering of some small, gold gemstones and a few sequins…
