Neat & Tangled November Release, Day 4

Hello there!

Today is the fourth day of the November release from Neat & Tangled, and its a beauty!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 4 is for the Falling Stars stamp set and here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Falling Stars.

I really enjoyed this one especially as it was so quick and easy to create! I used different coloured Dylusions inks to stamp the Falling Stars image loosely across the top half of a panel of white cardstock and then spritzed with water to make the colours blend and run.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Falling Stars.

I heat set the panel and trimmed to the same size as my card base and adhered straight down to the front. I also flicked on some gold ink splats for interest.

I stamped a sentiment from the Gift Card Box Christmas Sentiments set onto a die-cut circle piece with Versamark Ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set. I foam mounted that to the card front.

I added some gold sequins to finish off!

Neat & Tangled November Release, Day 3

Hello, hello!

It’s the third day of the Neat & Tangled November release, and we are showcasing another fabulous stamp set!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 3 is for the Stay Cool stamp set – here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Stay Cool

I knew I wanted a textured background for the cute little character from the set to sit against and found one from my stash of inky background panels – I had used the Parquet stencil to swipe through some embossing paste onto a panel of white cardstock and added a bit of colour for interest before trimming it down to slightly smaller than my card base and adhering it straight down.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Stay Cool

I then stamped the little character onto another piece of white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and coloured her in with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush pens. I used the co-ordinating die to die-cut her out along with the little fish from the set.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Stay Cool

I freehand drew a snow hill onto another piece of white cardstock and cut it out. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to add a bit of colour along the top of the hill and then stamped a couple of sentiments from the set. I coloured in the ‘COOL’ again with my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens before foam mounting to the card front.

I then foam mounted the little girl and fish to the card front to finish off!

Neat & Tangled November Release, Day 2

Hello again!

Time to showcase some more goodies from the Neat & Tangled November Release!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 2 is for the Fa La La stencil and die. Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Fa La La Stencil

The Fa La La stencil has some intricate lettering rather than large open spaces and I wanted to make sure I captured the detail on a background panel. So, I started by inking up the back of the stencil with three different shades of Dylusions Inks, spritzed with water and the laid down onto a panel of watercolour paper.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Fa La La Stencil

I allowed the ink to absorb into the watercolour paper for a few seconds before rubbing the stencil down onto the paper – this gave me maximum coverage.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Fa La La Stencil

I trimmed the panel down to the same size as my card base and adhered it straight down before moving onto the sentiment. I chose a sentiment from the Gift Card Box Christmas Sentiments set and stamped it with pink and blue inks onto a die-cut diamond piece. This piece was then foam mounted to the card front.

To then flicked on some gold paint and added a few sequins to finish off!

Neat & Tangled November Release, Day 1

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the start of November release week for Neat & Tangled!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 1 is for the Triangle Box Dies  and Gift Card Box Christmas Sentiments – here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Triangle Box Dies.

I had so much fun playing with the Triangle Box Dies, but knew that I only wanted to use the different sized triangle dies for my card. This is a very graphic, clean and simple card and you can easily use up your pattern paper scraps to create a whole card set if you like!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled November 2018 Release. Triangle Box Dies.

I hunted round for some inky scraps along with a sheet of metallic grey cardstock and used the dies to die-cut the triangles. I looked on Pinterest for some inspiration to help me come up with a layout for my triangle cluster, and simply adhered some straight down onto my card base, while foam mounting others.

I then stamped a sentiment from the Gift Card Box Christmas Sentiments set with Versamark Onyx Black ink.

To finish, I added some sequins.

Neat & Tangled October Release, Day 1: Nativity Play

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the start of October release week for Neat & Tangled!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 1 is for a couple of cute stamp and die sets, that will be great for creating Christmas nativity scenes – Nativity Play and Angel Wings. Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled OCTOBER 2018 Release. Nativity Play

I began by stamping the various characters from Nativity Play onto a panel of white cardstock, with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and then roughly adding colour with my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens.

I filled in any gaps with some of the smaller stamps from the set and added a few gold watercolour ink splats for interest. I trimmed to panel down to slightly smaller than my card base and mounted it to the card front.

To finish, I added some copper stickles.

Neat & Tangled June Release, Day 4

Hello there!

Today is the fourth day of the June release from Neat & Tangled, and its a beauty!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 4 is for the Receding Blocks Coverplate and Stencil – I chose to play with the stencil using one of my favourite techniques:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Receding Blocks Stencil

I really enjoy creating vibrant background using Dylusions Ink Sprays and stencils. The Receding Blocks Stencil is delicate and there are a lot more open areas for the ink to emerge through the stencil, but the end result is still striking!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Receding Blocks Stencil

I began by adding  droplets of pink and green Dylusions ink sprays onto a large acrylic block, then heavily spritzed a piece of watercolour cardstock with water. Whilst the panel was wet, I laid the stencil on top, then flipped the acrylic block on top very quickly, allowing the ink to seep through to the damp watercolour panel.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Receding Blocks Stencil

Whilst the stencil was still in place, I decided to add a few drops of Schmincke Aqua Shine to the panel. I then removed the stencil and quickly heat set the panel to try to stop the ink from moving around too much.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Receding Blocks Stencil

I trimmed the panel down and adhered it to a white card base. For a bit of detail, I used the Hooray die to die-cut a wreath from a piece of vellum – I delicately removed the actual word from the die-cut piece so that I was left with just the wreath, which I adhered with some tiny drops of glue to the card front.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Receding Blocks Stencil

I stamped a sentiment from the Magnolia stamp set onto a piece of black cardstock with Versamark ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set. I fussy cut the sentiment out and foam mounted it to the card front. To finish off, I added a mixture of sequins!

I hope you’re enjoying the June Release so far! Be sure to visit the Neat & Tangled Blog to see what the rest of the DT has created – all the sets that we are showcasing this week will be released on Friday, 8 June at 8am EST in the shop!

Neat & Tangled June Release, Day 3: Magnolia

Hello, hello!

It’s the third day of the Neat & Tangled June release, and we are showcasing another fabulous stamp set!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 3 is for the Magnolia stamp set – here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Magnolia

I wanted to see if I could create a floral arrangement with the images from this set without actually doing any detailed colouring to the images, so I looked for some offcuts from my experiments with watercolour on YUPO. I stamped the images with Archival Jet Black ink onto the YUPO and let it dry for about an hour.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Magnolia

I then die-cut the images out using the coordinating dies and began arranging them onto my card base. At this point, nothing seemed to be working for me, so I set the pieces aside and die-cut an oval aperture out of a panel of white cardstock.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Magnolia

I stamped a sentiment from the set straight down onto my card base and then foam mounted the oval aperture piece onto the card front. This acted like an anchor to hold all the die-cut magnolia images!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Magnolia

I arranged the pieces around the oval, allowing the sentiment to peek through. Once happy, I adhered some pieces straight down, while foam mounting others.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Magnolia

To finish, I adhered some sequins and flicked a few tiny gold paint splats.

Neat & Tangled June Release, Day 2: Clearly Canine

Hello again!

Time to showcase some more goodies from the Neat & Tangled June Release!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 2 is for the Clearly Canine stamp set and the Dog die – these make such a great combination! Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Clearly Canine

I used the Dog die to die-cut an aperture out of some white cardstock and stamped a sentiment from Clearly Canine underneath. I then set it aside to work on the next part of the card.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Clearly Canine

I created a background panel to sit behind the aperture of the dog die-cut piece but spritzing a piece of watercolour paper with water, laying down the Receding Blocks stencil (showcasing later this week) and dropping Brusho powders down onto the wet areas. Its so fun to watch the colour bleed under the stencil!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Clearly Canine

Once I was happy with the background panel, I removed the stencil and heat set. I trimmed it down to the same size as my card base and adhered it straight down.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled June 2018 Release. Clearly Canine

I then foam mounted the die-cut piece to the card front and adhered a twine bow to the front.
