CAS-ual Fridays CFC129 – Shades of Gray

Hello hello!!! Welcome back to another CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, which, unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, now has a whole new format. More details here, but essentially you get much more time to play! Yay!

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to leave a comment on my announcement post – it means so much to me, and I hope you’ll come back and visit again. On to this week’s theme – Shades of Gray – you have to use at least two shades of gray on your project:

And here’s my card:

I chose to work with a steel grey card base, freeing me up to experiment with other colours as well as one more shade of grey. I started by stamping the sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Truth Is set in Versamark and heat embossing in white (OK, so the base warped a bit and I had to flatten it under my Grand Calibur overnight).

Then I coloured up some panels of white cardstock with various inks including Pumice Stone Distress Ink and Memento London Fog – these were my other greys. Once the panels were dry, I die-cut the teardrops using Memory Box’s Benjamin Border die.

I stuck the teardrops down layer by layer with some slight overlap – I used foam adhesive towards the bottom of each one and Glossy Accents at the tips, creating some raised dimension – here’s a closeup:

I finished up with some gemstones below the sentiment and voilà!

Thanks for stopping by – I hope you’ll play along for the chance to win some awesome prizes! Stop by the blog to see creations from the brilliant new design team – the inspiration from those girls is so amazing!

This card is brilliant! Just love the colours you used and the idea for the overlapping is genius. Its funny because last night I had a dream I was making a card with circles overlapping, so will try it for the challenge to see if it works. Thanks so much for sharing your perfect card.

Oh, my word! I am in LOVE with this. I love it when someones makes something out of what the rest of us would just toss out. Those tear drops are GORGEOUS! I could stare at this all day. Thanks for encouraging me to look outside the box for ideas.
