Thanks for stopping by on what I can only describe as the beginning of a very exciting month of celebrations for Winnie & Walter’s third birthday! Woohoo! And, it all kicks off with a different birthday challenge set by each member of the DT.
The theme for my challenge is Pattern-Making – you can use your dies or your stamps to create patterns of any sort – its a favourite technique of mine! Here’s my card:
To me, patterns can be random and they can also be symmetrical. They can be calculated or they can simply be achieved by going with the flow – my most successful ones tend to be when I haven’t thought too hard about them. For this card, I first wanted to create each impression with the backs of the stamps. I laid out each of the gems images from My Precious onto the door of my MISTI, making sure the back was facing up.
I then used a combination of four different ink shades to create a graduated look and then stamped down onto a panel of white cardstock. I repeated this a few times until the panel was full. Where I had gaps, I stamped smaller dots using the rubber tip end of a pencil 😉
I wiped the stamps clean, flipped them over an remounted them so that they were the right way around on the door of the MISTI. I inked them up with black dye ink and stamped over the previous impression.
This technique works well with symmetrical stamps, but you could try it with anything you have… I die-cut the panel down to the same size as my card base and adhered it straight down to the front. I die-cut the ‘hugs’ sentiment from some black cardstock using a die from The Big, the Bold and Friends Cutaways and adhered it to the card front. The second part of the sentiment comes from the new Sentimental: Love set and was stamped onto a strip of white cardstock and foam mounted below the ‘hugs’.
To finish up, I added some gold sequins! I hope you’ll play along with this challenge and all the other ones set by the rest of the DT – you’ll find more details over at the Winnie & Walter blog – you’ll need to use at least one Winnie & Walter product. Winners of each challenge will be chosen randomly by Winnie & Walter.
Thanks for popping by!
Today is the fourth and final day of the January / February release from Winnie & Walter, and it ends with another fabulous mix of stamp and die sets!
Day 4 is the premiere of Welcome to the Family with Evelin T Designs (stamps and cutaways, Typecast: Cary Letters Cutaways and Typecast: Cary Numbers Cutaways. Here’s my card:
I began by creating a background panel, using a piece of acetate and some reinkers. First, I added a couple of purple and yellow ink droplets onto a piece of acetate, spritzed with water and then smooshed it onto a piece of white cardstock. I did this a couple of times until I’d reached the desired effect.
I heat set the panel, die cut it to the same size as my card base and then adhered it to the card front. I then stamped a sentiment and some small hearts from Welcome to the Family with black dye ink.
I stamped the elephant critter and the box from the same set onto patterned paper, adding some shading with copic markers before fussy cutting each element out. I foam mounted them to the card front to finish off!
I hope you enjoyed the inspiration from myself, Julie and the rest of the Talent for the January / February release from Winnie & Walter – do check out what everyone has produced for the last day over at their blog! The new release will be available today at 22.00 CST!
Thanks for looking 😉
Hello, hello! It’s the third day of the Winnie & Walter January / February release, and you’re in for another treat!
Day 3 is for the premiere of Big Hugs with Evelin T Designs stamps and cutaways, and Sketchy Thoughts stamps and cutaways – here’s my card:
I stamped the various speech bubbles from the Sketchy Thoughts set with Distress Inks and then stamped some co-ordinating sentiments from the same set, but with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
The stamped panel was then trimmed down to slightly smaller than my card base and foam mounted to the front.
For a bit of interest, I added some cork and wood embellishments along with a sprinkling of sequins.
Don’t forget to check out the projects from Julie on the Winnie & Walter blog, along with the rest of the Winnie & Walter talent. The new release will be available at 22.00 CST on Friday, 3rd of February!

Hello there! Time to showcase another awesome group of stamp and die sets for the Winnie & Walter January / February Release!
Day 2 is for the premiere of Mini Scenery: Bed of Roses, Sending You with Evelin T Designs, Sentimental: Endearments, Sentimental: Love and Essentials: Lana Cutaways. We’re also showcasing From the Bottom of My Heart, which you can get for free with a qualifying purchase over $25, for a limited time! Here’s my first card:
I began by stamping the back of the Bed of Roses stamp with a combination of Distress Inks onto a panel of white cardstock, and spritzing with water to get the inks moving. I then flipped the stamp the right way around and stamped the roses with black dye ink.
The panel was heat set, trimmed down to slightly smaller than my card base and foam mounted to a white card base. The sentiment comes from Sentimental: Love, was heat embossed in white onto a strip of black cardstock, and foam mounted to the card front.
To finish up, I added a few gold sequins. Here’s my second card:
I really love the bold nature of the focal sentiment, so wanted the background to be fairly neutral. I used a panel that I’d created by stamping images from In Bloom: Anna’s Flora with Dylusions Ink Sprays and spritzing lightly with water.
I trimmed the panel down to a square and foam mounted it to a white card base. I then stamped the large sentiment from From the Bottom of My Heart with black dye ink, and then again with some Delicata Golden Glitz. This gives you a nice rock ‘n’ roll effect 😉
Again, I added the gold sequins to finish up the design.
I hope you get a chance to check out the projects from Julie on the Winnie & Walter blog, along with the rest of the Winnie & Walter talent. The new release will be available at 22.00 CST on Friday, 3rd of February!

Hey everyone! Welcome to the start of the January / February release week for Winnie & Walter!
Day 1 is the Premier of The Big, the Bold and Baby stamp set / cutaways, Scenery: Stripes 2, In a Word: Baby Cutaway, In a Word: Congrats Cutaway and In a Word: Precious Script Cutaway – as usual, there are some really lovely sentiments in these sets! Here’s my first card:
I took one of the border stamps from Scenery: Stripes 2 and mounted it onto the door of my MISTI, with a bit of a curve rather than straight on. I took a piece of white cardstock and stamped the image in different colour using Distress Inks. The gridded paper that comes with the MISTI really helped me to keep each impression equally spaced apart.
Once I’d stamped the whole background, I trimmed the panel down to slightly smaller than my card base and foam mounted it to the card front. The sentiment comes from words in The Big, the Bold and Baby stamp set and was heat embossed in white onto black cardstock.
I foam mounted the sentiment onto the card front and finished off with some wood veneer embellishments. Here’s my second card:
I began by creating a colourful background simply by swiping a range of Tombow markers onto a piece of white cardstock and then spritzing with water to blend them together. After heat setting the panel, I then stamped each of the borders from Scenery: Stripes 2 with black dye ink onto the panel.
The panel was trimmed down to slightly smaller than my card base and foam mounted to the front. I then used the Welcome die from an older release (The Big, the Bold and Blessings cutaways) and die-cut it out of the copper foil cardstock and adhered it to the card front.
The second part of the sentiment comes from The Big, the Bold and Baby and was heat embossed in white onto a strip of black cardstock.
Be sure check out projects from Julie and the rest of the Talent on the Winnie & Walter blog. The new release will be available at 22.00 CST on Friday, 3rd of February!

Hi there – just popping by to sharing a card showcasing the limited edition stamp set In Bloom: Julie’s Roses. If you spend over $35 during the Black Friday sale, you get the set free! Here’s what I came up with:
The large, solid images in this stamp set made me want to take out my Dylusions Ink Sprays again, but this time to stamp with, rather than spray. This is a technique I’ve used before and its great fun, because within a matter of minutes, you can whip up a super cool floral background!
I began by lightly spritzing a piece of watercolour paper with water and then stamping straight into the damp areas with the solid images, first with Postbox Red and then with Dirty Martini. As you can imagine, the ink moves around quite quickly once it touches the water – the aim here is not to get the perfect impression of the stamp, but rather a loose interpretation of it.
I heat set the panel and then stamped over the colourful areas with the actual rose images using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. This helped to add definition to the vibrant watercolours underneath. I also took a white gel pen to add a little highlight to some of the areas before trimming the panel down to slightly smaller than my card base.
I foam mounted the panel to the white card base and moved onto the sentiment. I stamped the small greeting onto a piece of black cardstock with Versamark Ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set. I then adhered the sentiment strip to the card front and finished up with a few gold sequins.

Today, the Winnie & Walter Design Team are showcasing more of the November Release on this awesome blog hop, and you have a chance to win $30.00 credit to the w&w shop! Here’s my card:
I created this really simple wreath design using the In Bloom: Frenchy’s Florals set by Angelica Suarez. I drew around an oval die on a panel of white cardstock to create a frame for my wreath, and then stamped the sentiment in the centre with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
Starting at the top of the oval, I then stamped some of the floral images all the way around the frame using Distress Inks. For a bit of dimension, I used the ‘Rock ‘n’ ‘Roll’ technique to pick up two ink colours onto the stamp.
I stamped some of the smaller images to fill in the spaces once I’d stamped the entire wreath and then added a bit of sparkle with sequins.
To finish, I foam mounted the panel to a white card base.
For a chance to win a prize, follow along on the rest of the blog hop, leaving comments along the way by Monday, November 21, 2016 at noon CST- five randomly chosen commenters will receive $30.00 credit to the w&w shop. In case you missed a stop, here’s the entire blog hop list – thanks for stopping by!
The theme for today’s challenge is Background Building, and I really enjoy creating cards using some of the more neglected little stamps! Here’s my card:
I love the tiny stamps from Scenery: Rectangled and Triangled so I used one of them to create a large background panel. It didn’t take too long, as I’d chosen my ink colours in advance and had them ready to go between each colour change.
Once I’d stamped the background, I trimmed it down and adhered it to a white card base. I then stamped a sentiment from Ellen Hutson’s Totally Awesome set with black ink and then adhered the complimentary die-cut piece below it. This Brushstroke Wonderful die is gorgeous and whimsical – perfect for any card!
For a bit of dimension, I also added some die-cut vellum leaves around the sentiment – these were created with the In Bloom: Maggie’s Roses Cutaways and add such a delicate feel to the whole card.
I hope you’ll see what stamps you can use to create amazing backgrounds, and play along with the challenge over at the Winnie and Walter blog.
Two random commentors from the Share the Love Week posts on the Winnie & Walter blog will receive ‘Totally Awesome’ stamp set and ‘Brushstroke Wonderful’ die (Thanks Ellen!).
Each day one randomly drawn participant will receive a $25 credit to Ellen Hutson AND a $25 credit to the Winnie & Walter shop.
Ellen Hutson LLC will also be playing along with a post per day in the CLASSroom with giveaways! And she is going to have a special shopping code for a discount on in stock Winnie & Walter and Essentials by Ellen products in the Ellen Hutson LLC shop! So please go and check that out!

Hello everyone, just popping by to share the card I’ve made using a combination of the gorgeous Felicity Collection from Pinkfresh Studio and stamps from Winnie and Walter! This is all in celebration of Share the Love week!
I knew I wanted to show off some of the lovely pattern paper from the kit, so I chose one that I could stamp a sentiment onto.
I trimmed a piece of pattern paper down to slightly smaller than my card base, cut a chunk off the bottom at a diagonal and used my MISTI to perfectly align a sentiment onto both the card base and the panel. The sentiment comes from True and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
I added a strip of gold behind the pattern paper and then foam mounted it to the card front along with a few of the birds from the Felicity Collection.
To finish off, I sprinkled with a few gold sequins.
I hope you’ll stop by the Winnie & Walter blog for your chance to win some awesome goodies!
