Neat & Tangled May Release, Day 4: Stitched Starburst

Hey everyone!

Today is the fourth day of the May release from Neat & Tangled, and it ends with two fabulous die sets!

I’m showcasing the Stitched Starburst dies:

I love the simplicity of this die set – you get two dies, one that allows you to die-cut the sunburst and one that allows you to add some stitched detailing. I simply die-cut the starburst out of some yellow cardstock and placed it behind a circular aperture.

I then stamped the large sentiment from an older set, My Sunshine – I thought the two elements combined worked together perfectly! I added a little strip of washitape to the bottom of my panel before foam mounting the whole thing to a card base.

I splattered some gold paint onto the front and finished up with some sequins. Pop by the Neat & Tangled Blog to see what the rest of the DT has created – all the sets that we have showcased this week will be available in the shop tomorrow at 8am EST!

Thanks for looking 😉

Translucent embossing paste…with a gelato twist!

Hey everyone!

Today I’m sharing a card that I’m entering into two totally awesome challenges:

Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge #12 and Virginia’s View Challenge #2.

Cure For The Monday Blues #12     VV2

I’ve combined these challenges for the simple reason that they are great starting points for colours and techniques. Here’s my card:

I created the background by tinting some translucent embossing paste with a Metallic Mint Gelato and pushed it through the Texture Cressida stencil from Memory Box onto a white panel. This gave me some wonderful texture and shine!

Once dry, I foam mounted the panel to a white card base and die-cut some stars from neon cardstock using the Hearts and Stars die from Memory Box. I sprinkled these onto the panel along with a large Clearly Besotted Geometric Rose vellum die-cut.

I stuck strips of some striped red and white washitape onto a scrap panel and first die-cut a square, then die-cut a heart in the centre. The gold showing through the heart is some Delicata Golden Glitz smushed onto another scrap panel and is so shiny! The sentiment comes from Clearly Besotted’s A Little Sentimental set and was stamped onto a piece of cardstock that had a light wash of Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

I clipped the sentiment and the die-cut square panel with a wooden peg which I coloured using a sharpie to match the background, and foam mounted to the card base.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekends!

Little Tangles Challenge #15 – Washi It Up

Hello! Hope everyone’s having a great start to the weekend…

I wanted to share a card that I’m entering into the Little Tangles Challenge #15 – Washi It Up. I love washitape, and use it on all sorts of packaging as well as on cards.

When I saw the theme for this challenge, I knew I wanted to play along, but I couldn’t find a way to make the Sparkle and Shine stamp set work (trust me, I tried!). Here’s my card:

I started by laying down some of my favourite washitape in strips across a small panel of white cardstock, wrapping the excess around the sides. Then I took one of the large tree images from Kanban’s Autumn Silhouettes stamp set, and stamped below the washitape in Versamark.

I brushed on Perfect Copper Perfect Pearls over the stamped imaged, and removed any excess before adhering the panel to my card base. Finally, I stamped a sentiment from Ali Edwards Loving Words stamp set.

Paper Smooches – May 20-26 Cool Shades challenge

Hello again…a second card from me today, but this one is for the Paper Smooches SPARKS Cool Shades Colour Challenge.

7May-Nautical

Again, I don’t have any Paper Smooches stamp sets…yet…I ordered the Potpourri set after I saw Tasnim‘s card here…loved the paper piecing! Instead, I used one of the free digi stamps from the Paper Smooches blog – they’re all so great, but I picked the whimsical ‘love’ image to work with.

Love1

I also knew I wanted to try something different, so I pulled out some of my washitape (thankfully, two of the shades matched the colours from the challenge).

I printed the sentiment on some paper, and adhered it to a heavier card to make it feel more solid when I wrapped various strips of washitape around it. I stamped the medium sized tree from the Kanban Autumn Silhouettes stamp set on top of the washitape, in Versafine Onyx Black ink. This took aaaaaages to dry, but I liked the mottled effect.

I adhered a red punched heart and tied some natural button twine around the panel (I even knotted the ends, like Julie Ebersole), and rounded the bottom corners with my We R Memory Keepers yellow corner chomper. Then I stuck the panel onto a kraft card base.

After I took the photos, I did wonder whether or not I should put Glossy Accents over the tree image…what do you think?
