Neat & Tangled January Release, Day 4: Dazzling

Hello there!

Today is the fourth day of the January release from Neat & Tangled, and its a beauty!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 4 is for the Dazzling and Koalifications stamp sets, and they are absolutely fabulous, especially if you want to create quick, clean and simple cards!

I’m showcasing the Dazzling stamp set, and here’s my first card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled January 2018 Release. Dazzling.

For this card, I stamped the image of the crystals with Versamark ink onto a panel of black cardstock. I also stamped a sentiment and some additional stars from the Wishing you Love set.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled January 2018 Release. Dazzling.

I then brushed over some Gold Perfect Pearls all over the panel so that it would adhere to the sticky ink. I removed the excess mica powder using a dryer sheet – this seems to pick up all the stray particles!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled January 2018 Release. Dazzling.

I flicked a few gold ink drops onto the panel before heat setting and trimming down to slightly smaller than my kraft card base. I foam mounted it to the card front and finished off with a few gold sequins.

I think the black and gold makes such a great combination!

Here’s my second card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled January 2018 Release. Dazzling.

Again, another quick and simple card – this time I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto a panel of white cardstock, and added the sentiment and extra stars in the same way as the first card.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled January 2018 Release. Dazzling.

But this time, I coloured the tops of the crystals with gold paint. I also added gold paint ink droplets and heat set the panel before trimming it down to smaller than my card base.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled January 2018 Release. Dazzling.

I foam mounted the panel down to another kraft card base and adhered a few more gold sequins to finish off.

I hope you’re enjoying the January Release so far! Be sure to visit the Neat & Tangled Blog to see what the rest of the DT has created – all the sets that we are showcasing this week will be released on Friday, 5 January at 8am EST in the shop!

Winnie and Walter November Release – Day 1

Hey everyone!

Thanks for joining me at the start of November release week for Winnie & Walter! Today is the premiere of In a Word: Merry stamp set and co-ordinating Cutaways; In a Word: Holiday Tiles Cutaways and In a Word: Believe Cutaway Here’s my first card:

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter November 2017 - Day 1

I began by stamping the largest sentiment from the In a Word: Merry stamp set with a range of dye inks using my MISTI onto a panel of white cardstock, and then going over the stamped area with a smaller sentiment from the same set with black ink.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter November 2017 - Day 1

I trimmed the panel down at an angle and set aside to work on the kraft card base. I stamped some of the small star images from In a Word: Merry stamp set with Versamark ink and brush over some gold Perfect Pearls before foam mounting the trimmed focal panel.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter November 2017 - Day 1

To finish, I stamped a smaller sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock with Versamark and again brushed over the gold Perfect Pearls. I foam mounted to the card front and adhered some wood veneer stars.

Here’s my second card:

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter November 2017 - Day 1

I stamped the larger sentiments from In a Word: Merry stamp set with white pigment ink onto a panel of kraft cardstock and then stamped over the white ink with coloured dye inks, slightly offset.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter November 2017 - Day 1

I also repeated the process with some of the smaller images from the set in the gaps to create a more finished panel.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter November 2017 - Day 1

I trimmed the kraft panel down and foam mounted it to a white card base. I heat embossed the smaller sentiment in white onto strips of navy cardstock and then foam mounting them to the card front.

Stenciling with Perfect Pearls

Hello there!

I’m over at the Neat & Tangled blog today to share a card using the gorgeous Hexastar Stencil from the May Release!

©Candles in the Garden. May 2016 Neat and Tangled post. Hexastar Stencil and Perfect Pearls.

I love the geometric design of this stencil and can see myself reaching for it again and again to create awesome backgrounds! This card took no time at all to put together – I began by laying the stencil down onto some dark coloured cardstock and stamping all over with the Versamark Ink pad.

©Candles in the Garden. May 2016 Neat and Tangled post. Hexastar Stencil and Perfect Pearls.

I lifted the stencil away and brushed some gold Perfect Pearls over the sticky areas – I didn’t mind the unevenness of my stamping (near the edges), as it give the overall look a sense of depth.

©Candles in the Garden. May 2016 Neat and Tangled post. Hexastar Stencil and Perfect Pearls.

I gently wiped any excess Perfect Pearls with a dryer sheet and trimmed the panel down to slightly smaller than my card base. Before foam mounting the panel, I swiped the Versamark Ink pad along all four edges of the card base, and again brush with the Perfect Pearls. This gave me a nice matching border…

©Candles in the Garden. May 2016 Neat and Tangled post. Hexastar Stencil and Perfect Pearls.

I wanted to keep the sentiment simple so that the focal panel could really be the star of this card, so I stamped one from the Origami Map set onto a strip of the same dark cardstock with Versamark, sprinkled with gold embossing powder and heat set. I trimmed the sentiment piece down and foam mounted it to the card front.

To finish, I added a selection of Summer Sun and Gold Mix sequins.

Thanks for stopping by!

MFT October Release – Countdown Day 4

Hello again!

Time to showcase some more goodies from the My Favorite Things October Release!

NewReleaseCountdown_Day4

For Countdown Day 4, we’re showcasing Birdie Brown’s Santa’s Elves stamp and Die-Namics sets; the Candy Stripes Background Builder; the Santa Suit Die-namics; the Fireplace Die-namics; the Hand Lettered Holiday Stamp Set and the Stitched Arch STAX Die-namics. Here’s my first card:

©Candles in the Garden. MFT October Release Countdown Day 4. Santa's Elves stamp set.

I began by stamping the large Candy Stripes Background onto a kraft card base with black dye ink. I then brushed over the stripes with Perfect Pearls, tapping away the excess.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT October Release Countdown Day 4. Santa's Elves stamp set.

I stamped one of the cute elves from Santa’s Elves with Jet Black Archival Ink onto watercolour paper, and coloured him in with some ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens and Distress Inks.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT October Release Countdown Day 4. Santa's Elves stamp set.

I fussy cut the elf out and set him aside. The sentiment comes from the same set and was stamped onto some black cardstock with Versamark ink and heat set with white embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment piece down, snipped one side off at an angle and foam mounted to the card base.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT October Release Countdown Day 4. Santa's Elves stamp set.

I then foam mounted the elf and a couple of presents, again from Santa’s Elves to the card. To finish, I added some Christmas Red Stickles on the bauble and some Glossy Accents on the little bell at the end of his hat!

Here’s my second card:

©Candles in the Garden. MFT October Release Countdown Day 4. Santa's Elves, Trim the Tree and Hand Lettered Holiday stamp sets.

This clean and simple card uses a number of smaller images from Trim the Tree, Santa’s Elves and Hand Lettered Holiday to create a wreath on a one layer card.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT October Release Countdown Day 4. Santa's Elves, Trim the Tree and Hand Lettered Holiday stamp sets.

I began by masking off a circular area in the centre of a white card base, and then stamping all the smaller images, randomly, along the edge.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT October Release Countdown Day 4. Santa's Elves, Trim the Tree and Hand Lettered Holiday stamp sets.

Once I was happy, I removed the mask and stamped a sentiment from Hand Lettered Holiday in the centre of the wreath.

To finish, I added a small twine bow and a few gemstones.

Scored Shapes: Happiest Birthday to You

Hello there!

I’m over at the Neat & Tangled blog today to share a card using the new, Scored Shapes dies and a sentiment from Happiest Birthday.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled September 2015 Monthly Post. Scored Shapes Dies.

I can see myself having so much fun with these dies – I left them intact for this particular project, but used individually opens up even more possibilities!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled September 2015 Monthly Post. Scored Shapes Dies.

I took a panel of watercolour paper that already had some inky goodness on it (I never throw anything away!) and simply ran the Scored Shapes dies through it, setting aside the positive pieces. On the main panel, I stamped a sentiment from Happiest Birthday with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled September 2015 Monthly Post. Scored Shapes Dies.

On a white card base, I sponged some Delicata Golden Glitz ink in the areas that would show through the die cut spaces on the watercolour panel. To intensify the gold, I brushed some gold Perfect Pearls over the ink and misted lightly with water to set.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled September 2015 Monthly Post. Scored Shapes Dies.

I foam mounted the die cut watercolour panel to the card base, revealing the gold through the apertures. I then adhered some of the positive pieces to the front along with matching sequins from the Sunset Shimmer sequin mix.

You could easily replicate this card with patterned paper, Gelli prints or anything that is lying around in your craft room 😉

MFT September Release – New Product Launch

Hey there! Thanks for joining me for the My Favorite Things September Release New Product Launch!

New Product Launch

Today, I am sharing two cards with you – one featuring the Stitched Oval Frame Die-Namics and one showcasing the Fleur de Lis Background – I used them separately, but I think they could also work quite well together! Both cards were created using some ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens – here’s the card that features the Stitched Oval Frames:

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Stitched Oval Frame Die-Namics.

I basically die-cut a few of these ovals out of some white cardstock, and loosely watercoloured them with the ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Stitched Oval Frame Die-Namics.

I then arranged the oval rings on a card front, making a few snips along the way to make it look like some rings were interlocked with others.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Stitched Oval Frame Die-Namics.

When I was satisfied with the arrangement, I foam mounted the rings to the card front, and trimmed off any excess.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Stitched Oval Frame Die-Namics.

I stamped some of the images from the Soda Pop set with black dye ink – the sentiment was stamped onto a strip of black cardstock, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set. To finish, I adhered a few sequins.

Here’s the card that features the Fleur de Lis Background:

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Fleur de Lis Background.

I love how the background came together so quickly – I began by stamping the Fleur de Lis pattern with Versamark ink onto a piece of white cardstock and heat set with white embossing powder.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Fleur de Lis Background.

I then swiped a rainbow selection of ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens along the top of the cardstock, down to about a quarter of the way down. I then spritzed liberally with a solution of Perfect Pearls and water.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Fleur de Lis Background.

The water reacts beautifully with the markers and blends the colours together so well, while trickling down the card.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Fleur de Lis Background.

I trimmed the inky panel down with the largest frame die from Blueprints 25 and adhered it down to a card base. I then die-cut the Streetlights Die-Namics out of some black cardstock, and adhered one of them down to the card.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release New Product Launch - Fleur de Lis Background.

I stamped one of the words from Label Maker Sentiments onto a scrap piece of cardstock, fussy cut out and tucked it behind the street light.

Thanks for joining me this week while we showcased the September Release products! Be sure to check out the amazing projects from the rest of the MFT Design Team members for more inspiration on the My Favorite Things blog 😉

MFT September Release – Countdown Day 5

Hey everyone!

Thanks for joining me at the start of September release week for My Favorite Things!

NewReleaseCountdown_Day5

For Countdown Day 5, we’re showcasing the Lisa Johnson Designs’ Delicate Pretty Poppies stamp set; the Thanks so Very Much stamp set; the Fall Florals stamp set and Die-Namics; the Etched Flower background; the Stitched Cover-Up Companion – Vertical Die-Namics and finally, the Fresh Squeezed Chevron and Homespun Gingham Patterned Papers. Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release Countdown Day 5. Fall Florals and Perfect Pearls.

The solid images in Fall Florals are great for creating patterns, but for a twist, I decided to stamp them with Versamark ink onto a black card base.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release Countdown Day 5. Fall Florals and Perfect Pearls.

I brushed various shades of Perfect Pearls onto the stamped areas, allowing the powder to stick to the ink, and then removed the excess.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release Countdown Day 5. Fall Florals and Perfect Pearls.

To set the Perfect Pearls, I lightly spritzed with water and set the card base aside. I die-cut a circle from some vellum using the Zig Zag Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics and stamped a sentiment from Thanks so Very Much with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I then sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release Countdown Day 5. Fall Florals and Perfect Pearls.

I adhered the vellum circle to the card base, applying the glue behind the sentiment areas so that it wouldn’t show through to the front.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT September Release Countdown Day 5. Fall Florals and Perfect Pearls.

To finish, I added a few sequins.

MFT August Release – Countdown Day 4

Hello again!

Time to showcase some more goodies from the My Favorite Things August Release!

NewReleaseCountdown_Day4

For Countdown Day 4, we’re showcasing Birdie Brown’s Polynesian Paradise stamp and Die-Namics sets; the Tiki Hut Die-Namics; the Pop-Up Birthday Die-namics; the Wave Background stamp and the Pineapple Background stamp – here’s my first card:

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Polynesian Paradise.

I created a background panel using Daffodil and Coral Crush Dye Ink Refills – I added a few dots of each colour onto a piece of acetate, spritzed with water, and transferred the colour to a piece of white cardstock. I heat set the panel and adhered straight down to a white card base.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Polynesian Paradise.

I die-cut a circular frame using two of the Double Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics, foam mounted it to the card front and stamped a sentiment from Polynesian Paradise in the centre with black dye ink.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Polynesian Paradise.

I stamped the flowers images from the same set onto scrap inky panels, fussy cut them out and adhered to the circle frame.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Polynesian Paradise.

To finish, I added some black gemstones to the centres of the flowers. Here’s my second card:

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Wave Background.

I began by creating the background panel using the emboss-resist technique. I took a piece of white cardstock and blended Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Inks together and then stamping the Wave Background with Versamark Ink. I sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Wave Background.

I then blended Pine Needles and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks on top of the embossed areas, and through to the cardstock – the embossed areas resisted the ink but the colours below were intensified! I set the panel with a light coating of water and Perfect Pearls.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Wave Background.

I die-cut a circle aperture from the ink-blended panel and set aside. On a white card base, I stamped a palm tree from Tiki Party (showcasing on Monday), and coloured it in with some ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens. I added clear Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents on the coconuts for some shine 😉

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Wave Background.

I stamped one of the birds from Polynesian Paradise onto a piece of white cardstock, again used the ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens to colour it in and fussy cut it out before foam mounting to a strip of black cardstock – the sentiment was heat-embossed in white and the strip had banner ends cut on either side.

©Candles in the Garden. MFT August Release Countdown Day 4. Wave Background.

The wave background was foam mounted to the card base, allowing the palm tree to peek through, followed by the sentiment strip and bird. To finish, I added a couple more fussy-cut flowers to help balance the design.

Neat & Tangled July Release, Day 1: Faceted

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the start of July release week for Neat & Tangled!

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 1 is for the gorgeous stamp set ‘Faceted‘ and a new line in the Neat & Tangled store – vellum circles! The stamp is a 6×8″ set, and pairs some cute sentiments with a large, faceted background – great for cards or, like I’ve done, for decorating art journals 😉

Print

Here’s my project:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JULY15 Release - Day 1, Faceted.

I had so much fun doodling on the front covers of these journals, and the large, faceted image makes it so easy! I began by masking off an area on the covers with some postit notes, and stamped the design on three small Moleskin journals (two with black dye ink, and one with Delicata Golden Glitz ink).

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JULY15 Release - Day 1, Faceted.

On one of the journal covers, I simply filled in the open areas of the design with some simple doodling and shading, finishing with a white gel pen – the sentiment comes from Faceted:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JULY15 Release - Day 1, Faceted.

On the second one, I coloured the open areas with coloured pencils, going over them with clear Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle – the sentiment comes from My Plate is Full:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JULY15 Release - Day 1, Faceted.

On the last one, which had been stamped with the gold ink, I lightly brushed with Gold Perfect Pearls, and then coloured the open areas with a mixture of the perfect pearls with water – the sentiment comes from a stamp set being showcased tomorrow:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JULY15 Release - Day 1, Faceted.

I can see myself giving these journals away, because they make such a quick, easy and personal gift! Or, I might use them myself for art journaling, as a planner, doodling or even sketching 😉
