Neat & Tangled March Release, Day 3: Paris + Graduated Stripes Coverplate

Hello, hello!

It’s the third day of the Neat & Tangled March release, and we are showcasing a stamp set and a coverplate 😉

NT Release Graphic.jpg

Day 3 is for Paris, which as you might expect, features some cute, Parisian themed images – the Eiffel Tower, some macarons…reminds me of my recent visit! There’s also the Graduated Stripes Coverplate, which I think could become a staple in anyone’s collection!

Here’s my card:

I’ve had so much fun with Dylusions Ink Sprays recently and couldn’t help bringing them back for this card – I love how vibrant they are and can make anything appear so bright and cheerful! I created the background in the same way as I did for Day 1’s card, trimmed it down to the size of my card base and adhered it straight down.

I die-cut the Graduated Stripes from a piece of white cardstock and stamped a sentiment from the Paris set with black dye ink.

This piece was then foam mounted (yes, I did painstakingly go round then entire thing with tiny bits of foam tape, especially along the skinny edges!) to the card base. I almost wanted to leave it there but decided to stamp some of the flower images onto scrap inky panels, fussy cut them out and adhere them around the sentiment.

As a final touch, I added some small, black gemstones to the centre of the flowers.

Thanks for looking 😉

Neat & Tangled July Release, Day 1: Gifts For You

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the start of July release week for Neat & Tangled!

Day 1 is for a stamp set called Gifts for You, and lemme tellya, you are going to LOVE IT! Its been designed by the enormously talented Pamela Ho and there are some really cute images.

Neat and Tangled Gifts For You

Here’s what I came up with:

This stamp set had me smiling from ear to ear because of its cute, comic style illustrations – those little faces are adorable and means you can create a birthday card for either a girl or a boy!

I used a technique that the lovely Laura Bassen demo’d here and stamped the tiny images from the set around a circle mask. I used Hero Arts Neon Inks and then Versafine Onyx Black for the tiny hearts and the sentiment.

After I peeled away the mask, I stamped the image of the girl and added the outline of the crown on her head. I coloured her cheeks, ponytail clasps and crown with Intense pencils.

This card is almost one layer except for the twine bow added to the side of the stamped image. I like the idea of switching out the colours to make it more masculine if needs be – this set is perfect with its all-round sentiments and cutsie images!

Translucent embossing paste…with a gelato twist!

Hey everyone!

Today I’m sharing a card that I’m entering into two totally awesome challenges:

Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge #12 and Virginia’s View Challenge #2.

Cure For The Monday Blues #12     VV2

I’ve combined these challenges for the simple reason that they are great starting points for colours and techniques. Here’s my card:

I created the background by tinting some translucent embossing paste with a Metallic Mint Gelato and pushed it through the Texture Cressida stencil from Memory Box onto a white panel. This gave me some wonderful texture and shine!

Once dry, I foam mounted the panel to a white card base and die-cut some stars from neon cardstock using the Hearts and Stars die from Memory Box. I sprinkled these onto the panel along with a large Clearly Besotted Geometric Rose vellum die-cut.

I stuck strips of some striped red and white washitape onto a scrap panel and first die-cut a square, then die-cut a heart in the centre. The gold showing through the heart is some Delicata Golden Glitz smushed onto another scrap panel and is so shiny! The sentiment comes from Clearly Besotted’s A Little Sentimental set and was stamped onto a piece of cardstock that had a light wash of Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

I clipped the sentiment and the die-cut square panel with a wooden peg which I coloured using a sharpie to match the background, and foam mounted to the card base.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekends!

CAS-ual Fridays: CFC114 – Back to School

Hello, and welcome!

This is my first post as a Design Team member for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, and the theme is Back to School. Our sponsor is Ellen Hutson and the winner of this challenge will earn a $25 gift certificate.

More details for the challenge can be found here, where I would encourage you to join in all the fun! Here’s my card:

Slightly different style here for me, as I don’t often us pattern papers, but I found one that had gridded squares (or graph paper) from the My Mind’s Eye Blink of an Eye pack. I cut down a panel which I knew I would be stamping my sentiments on, but first I wanted to distress the paper a little.

I grabbed Antique Linen and Old Paper Distress Inks and used a blending tool to smush the ink around the edges of the panel. I also drew a red line on the left hand side and punched some holes to make the panel look more like a sheet from a student’s exercise book.

I distressed the edges further with a craft knife just for added interest. Then I stamped sentiments from Neat and Tangled’s Sparkle and Shine set and Lawn Fawn’s Lucky Stars set in Versamark, sprinkled over some black embossing powder and heat set. These sentiments worked brilliantly together!

Before adhering the panel to my card base, I stamped some of the cool images from Hero Arts Brush Strokes set in Neon inks. I found a rocket shaped brad in my stash and attached that to the panel because I thought it went so well with the sentiments. I also drew some stars and then adhered to the card base, curling up the bottom a little.

Finally, I added a strip of washitape (that looked like a ruler) across the top left corner of the panel and I was done! Phew! A lot more going on here than on my usual cards, but I hope you like it all the same!

I hope you can play along – this is a great two week challenge!
