MFT October Release – Countdown Day 5

Hey everyone!

Thanks for joining me at the start of October release week for My Favorite Things!

NewReleaseCountdown_Day5

For Countdown Day 5, we’re showcasing the Lisa Johnson Designs’ Trim the Tree Stamp Set and Die-Namics, the Gift Tag Greetings Stamp Set and finally, the Tag Builder 4 Blueprints Die-namics! Here’s my first card:

I love a good old, one layer card once in a while, especially when you can create the illusion of dimension with embossing paste! I began by stamping the tree image from Trim the Tree first with Pumice Stone Distress Ink, and then with a range of rainbow coloured Distress Inks along the bottom of the card base.

I quite like the mottled, uneven look to the stamping – adds to the feeling of something that’s been hand made 😉 I stamped a sentiment from the same set with black ink and set the card aside to dry. I then reached for the Snowfall Stencil (being showcased tomorrow), laid it on top of the card and masked off the sentiment area before swiping through some embossing paste.

I removed the stencil, gave it a quick wash and while the paste on the card was still a little wet, I sprinkled some iridescent embossing powder all over, tapping off the excess. After about an hour, I heat set the powder, and the card was complete!

Here’s my second card:

This one is pretty quick, clean and simple. Oh and that background? That’s created using the new Basic Stitch Lines Die-Namics, being showcased on Tuesday!

I ran those dies several times across a card base to create a bit of interest. For the christmas tree, I wanted to go for non-traditional colours, and ran the tree die from Trim the Tree Die-Namics out of some pink, purple and grey cardstocks, scoring the pieces down the middle to make them easier to fold in half slightly.

I then adhered all the tree pieces together, applying glue only in the centre and popping the sides up for a little dimension.

I foam mounted the tree to the card base and stamped a sentiment from Trim the Tree beneath it with black dye ink.

I love your unique use of this stamp set and the die, especially the stamp with the rainbow trees and falling snow! I may CASE that one for my nieces and nephews in the northwest!

I really love how you featured your adorable elf. The softer background really makes him pop. Great job!
