CAS-ual Fridays Challenge CFC134 – Tic Tac Toe

Hey everyone!

Today sees that start of the final CAS-ual Fridays Challenge for 2014…that’s right, the last one for this year. That doesn’t mean the end, as I’m sure the challenge will come back with a bang in 2015 😉 This week’s theme is Tic Tac Toe, which means you can choose the prompts from a row in the graphic below (down, across, diagonal) to create your project. Fun, right?

CFC134

I went for the right hand column: Sequins + Embossing + Twine and here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. CAS-ual Fridays CFC134 - Tic Tac Toe. Sequins + Embossing + Twine.

I began by embossing a piece of white cardstock with one of the Lattice embossing folders from Lifestyle Crafts. This was then adhered to my card base with foam pads.

©Candles in the Garden. CAS-ual Fridays CFC134 - Tic Tac Toe. Sequins + Embossing + Twine.

I die-cut a tag shape out of a scrap panel that had been covered in Distress Inks and had a silver embossed flower image (hopefully, you know by now that I can’t throw anything away!). I threaded some twine through a hole and then foam mounted the tag at an angle on the front of the card .

©Candles in the Garden. CAS-ual Fridays CFC134 - Tic Tac Toe. Sequins + Embossing + Twine.

The sentiment from the Wallflower set was partially stamped with Versamark onto some black cardstock and heat embossed in white (the rest of the sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink on the inside of the card). I also white heat embossed the deco flowers from the same set onto some vellum and coloured the reverse with copic markers.

The flowers were cut out carefully and adhered to the card with glossy accents. I curled up the edges for some interest and sprinkled with a few sequins – Tic Tac Toe!!!

Although this is the last challenge for 2014, Michele is kindly giving away a $20 CAS-ual Fridays Stamps gift certificate on each of the challenge DT’s blogs. All you have to do is leave a comment on each of our blogs for the chance to win!

Winnie and Walter July Release, Day 4: Scenery: V for Chevron

Hello there!

Today is the fourth and final day of the July release from Winnie & Walter, and it ends with what I think is an awesome pattern maker!

weblogo

Day 4 is for the Scenery: V for Chevron stamp set – the number of backgrounds you can create with this is truly limitless! Here’s what I came up with:

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 4. Scenery: V for Chevron.

I used one of the solid chevron stamps to create this pattern by drawing some light vertical lines onto a piece of cardstock and stamping each colour one by one.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 4. Scenery: V for Chevron.

I made sure each impression lined up as near as I could with the last one…the stamp had to be rotated each time so that it could fit snuggly with each impression to create what looks like a seamless pattern. Just think, one small stamp can go such a long way!

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 4. Scenery: V for Chevron.

I trimmed the inked panel down to fit my card base and die-cut the Simon Says Stamp Big Hello from the middle. I adhered the larger pieces onto the card base, and then die-cut the Big Hello three times from some white cardstock so that they could be stuck together to create one thicker die-cut element.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 4. Scenery: V for Chevron.

The thicker die-cut was inlaid and adhered onto the card base where it had been cut out of the inked panel. I also stamped some smaller chevrons from the new set and a sentiment from You’ve Got Love Mail. There’s a few clear sequins to finish up the card.

Be sure check out the projects from Diane Jaquay and Jenny Martin, who are our guest stars for this release as they won the Playdate No. 2 challenge, Julie and Shay on the Winnie & Walter blog, and the rest of the Winnie & Walter talent:

Winnie and Walter July Release, Day 3: The Big, The Bold and Seasons

Hello, hello! It’s the third day of the Winnie & Walter July release, and you’re in for another treat!

weblogo

Day 3 is for The Big, The Bold and Seasons which not only has the signature large, scripty words but also some cute supporting images! I gave you a sneak peak of them on the card I made for Day 1 of the July release 😉

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 3. The Big, The Bold and Seasons.

I know, I know, its not Christmas yet, but I couldn’t resist inking up the little snowflake from the set for this one! I kinda knew where I wanted to go with this card so began by drawing round a circle die onto a piece of white cardstock as a guide.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 3. The Big, The Bold and Seasons.

Using three colours of Distress Inks, I stamped the snowflake around the circle guideline to create a symmetrical pattern. I die-cut the centre with the circle die and adhered some acetate to the back to begin my shaker card.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 3. The Big, The Bold and Seasons.

On my card base, I stamped one of the pennants from Scenery: It’s a Wonderful Pennant with green inks. They were supposed to look like trees in the distance and show through the shaker element of the card 😉

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 3. The Big, The Bold and Seasons.

I added foam squares all around the edge of the circle and on the back of the inked panel before pouring some glitter onto the acetate and adhering to the card base. I used my Silhouette Cameo to die-cut the word ‘winter’ from the co-ordinating cut files.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 3. The Big, The Bold and Seasons.

I heat embossed a supporting sentiment in white onto a scrap of cardstock that had been cover with the same Distress Inks and foam mounted under the larger sentiment. I embellished with some gemstones around the snowflake wreath to finish up the card.

Don’t forget to check out the projects from Diane Jaquay and Jenny Martin, who are our guest stars for this release as they won the Playdate No. 2 challenge, Julie and Shay on the Winnie & Walter blog, and the rest of the Winnie & Walter talent:

Winnie and Walter July Release, Day 2: Scenery: It’s a Wonderful Pennant

Hello there! Time to showcase another awesome stamp set for the Winnie & Walter July Release! (This is my second post for today – please scroll down if you’re looking for my Pinkfresh Studio/Neat & Tangled post – thank you!)

Day 2 is for the Scenery: It’s a Wonderful Pennant stamp set and you guessed it, its all about pennants! Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 2. Scenery: It's a Wonderful Pennant.

I had so much fun with this one, as I often do when I start a card by creating a background. I began by drawing some curved lines on a piece of white cardstock to use as guides for stamping the pennants across.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 2. Scenery: It's a Wonderful Pennant.

Using one of the solid images from the set, I grabbed a rainbow selection of Distress Inks to stamp a continuous line of pennants, following the lines I drew earlier. I also used one of the smaller images randomly stamped pennants in Delicata Golden Glitz.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 2. Scenery: It's a Wonderful Pennant.

I trimmed the panel down to size and adhered to a card front before moving onto the focal element. I heat embossed the camera from The Write Stuff: Picture Perfect in white onto black cardstock and fussy cut it out. I foam mounted it to the card base on top of some bundled up cotton thread and added a sentiment from the same set.

There’s also a little wood veneer arrow from Pinkfresh Studio to finish the card…

I hope you get a chance to check out the projects from Diane Jaquay and Jenny Martin, who are our guest stars for this release as they won the Playdate No. 2 challenge, Julie and Shay on the Winnie & Walter blog, and the rest of the Winnie & Walter talent:

Pinkfresh Studio + Neat and Tangled Blog Hop: Day 2

Hello and welcome day 2 of the Pinkfresh Studio + Neat & Tangled Blog Hop!

Kinnari6_3_logo

Today, a bunch of us are combining products from both companies to provide you with a whole heap of inspiration – you can check out Day 1 here! Hopefully, you have arrived from Jenn Calma’s blog and after me, you’re next stop is Magda Bolinska! Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled / Pinkfresh Studio Collaboration.

I began by stamping the heart shaped balloon from Neat & Tangled’s Gifts for You set repeatedly to create a circle pattern, with different coloured inks.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled / Pinkfresh Studio Collaboration.

This gave me a sort of base to lay the ‘&’ from Pinkfresh Studio’s Hello set, which I stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink on some white card stock. Before I did so, I stamped the image again directly on top of the hearts and then added some white cotton thread.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled / Pinkfresh Studio Collaboration.

I didn’t have a circle die that could cut the image out perfectly, so instead I used a smaller punch to cut it out. When I adhered to the card base, you could see the border of the stamped image and the cotton thread underneath – I quite like this trick! 😉

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled / Pinkfresh Studio Collaboration.

I stamped a sentiment from the Hello set along with a few of the small hearts from Gifts for You. I added a couple of Pink Lemonade, Perfectly Purple Satin and Royally Blue Satin sequins to finish up 😉

For a chance to win one of TWO amazing prize packs containing $20 in product from Neat and Tangled AND $20 in product from Pinkfresh, be sure to hop and comment all along the way. In case you missed a stop, here’s the entire blog hop list – thanks for stopping by!

Winnie and Walter July Release, Day 1: The Big, The Bold and Blessings

Hey everyone! Welcome to the start of July release week for Winnie & Walter!

weblogo

Day 1 is for a stamp set called The Big, The Bold and Blessings and follows the style of all the other ‘big and bold’ sets. There are some really sweet sentiments that can be combined with supporting phrases to create endless possibilities! Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 1. The Big, The Bold and Blessings.

The really awesome thing about Winnie & Walter stamp sets is that they have co-ordinating cut files – I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out ‘welcome’ three times from different coloured cardstock.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 1. The Big, The Bold and Blessings.

These were layered jauntily on top of a fussy cut banner from The Big, The Bold and Extras stamp set.

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 1. The Big, The Bold and Blessings.

There’s a sneak peek of another set from the July release in the form of these small images, which I stamped to create a background for the banner and die-cuts to sit on. More on those later in the week! 😉 I’m sure any tiny images can be used to create similar backgrounds – just raid your stash and see what you come up with!

©Candles in the Garden. Winnie and Walter JUL14 Release - Day 1. The Big, The Bold and Blessings.

I stamped a co-ordinating sentiment above the die-cuts to finish off the card! I did think about adding some other embellishments but decided to leave this as clean and simple as I could…

Neat & Tangled July Release, Day 4: Punchinella

Hello there!

Today is the fourth and final day of the July release from Neat & Tangled, and it ends with what I think is a staple in any crafter’s collection!

10366022_775439453031_1521889152160037215_n

Day 4 is for the Punchinella stamp set – just think of all the awesome techniques and backgrounds you can create with this!

Print

I used it to whip up a quick background for my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 4. Punchinella.

I inked the image up with various Distress Inks and then spritzed with water before stamping onto some vellum – I knew I wasn’t to get a perfect stamped impression, but that was kinda the look I was going for 😉

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 4. Punchinella.

I trimmed the vellum down, cut some of the notches out of the sides and adhered to a white card base with glue dots. I then stamped the round balloon image from Gifts for You (also part of the July release) onto some die-cut balloons with Versamark. I heat set with clear embossing powder and then used darker shades of Distress Inks to rub over the balloons to help define the stars.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 4. Punchinella.

I tied some black twine around the balloons and secured with glossy accents. They have been foam mounted to the card allowing the twine to dangle below, with a sentiment from Gifts for You to help secure it in place.

I finished up with sequins from the Pink Lemonade mix now available in the store! There’s also a wood veneer arrow from Pinkfresh Studios.

Neat & Tangled July Release, Day 3: Time Warp + A Long Time Ago

Hello, hello!

It’s the third day of the Neat & Tangled July release, and we have a couple of gorgeous stamp sets designed by Miriam Prantner.

10366022_775439453031_1521889152160037215_n

Day 3 is for Time Warp and A Long Time Ago, sets that can work with each other but also separately too!

Print  Print

Here’s what I created:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 3. Time Warp + A Long Time Ago.

I began by creating a Distress Ink panel (seems to be a go-to technique for me ;-)) and then heat embossing the Time Warp image in silver.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 3. Time Warp + A Long Time Ago.

I die-cut a heart out of the centre and foam mounted a piece of red pattern paper behind the inked panel. I stamped one of the sentiments onto a strip of black paper and heat embossed in silver again.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 3. Time Warp + A Long Time Ago.

Once everything was adhered to a textured white card base, I added a mixture of Crystal ClearRoyally Blue and Raspberry Red Satin Sequins. The rest of the sentiment was stamped on the inside of the card!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 3. Time Warp + A Long Time Ago.

I stamped some stars from the Sparkle & Shine set and that was my card done! There are some really fun sentiments in this set and the combinations are limitless!

Neat & Tangled July Release, Day 2: Sailmates

Hello again! (This is my second post for today – please scroll down if you’re looking for my Runway Inspired Challenge post – thank you!)

Time to showcase another awesome stamp set for the Neat & Tangled July Release!

10366022_775439453031_1521889152160037215_n

Day 2 is for the Sailmates stamp set and there are some fun, nautical images and sentiments in this one…

Print

Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 2. Sailmates.

I drew a circle on a watercolour card base lightly in pencil and then painted in a sun using Dylusions Ink Sprays. Once dry, I went over the sun with some clear Wink of Stella.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 2. Sailmates.

I stamped the wavy lines with Salty Ocean Distress Ink and used a wet paint brush to draw over them to help the ink move around. Once dry, I stamped over the lines again, but with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink – there’s also a line of clear Wink of Stella here too!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 2. Sailmates.

I masked off the wavy lines before stamping the cute little sailboat image with Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I paper pieced the sails in with some pattern paper. The base of the boat was coloured with Intense Pencils.

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled JUL14 Release - Day 2. Sailmates.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment and added some Crystal Clear sequins (my new favourite embellishment :-)).

Runway Inspired Challenge #64

Hello there and welcome to this week’s Runway Inspired Challenge! We have another awesome inspiration photo and the chance to win a prize from Ellen Hutson 😉

BottegaVeneta_004_1366.450x675
ric#64

Here’s my card:

©Candles in the Garden. RIC64. Distress Ink coloured / stamped strips and vellum element.

This was such a fun card to make, and the idea could easily lend itself to mass produced cards – I used Distress Ink panels that had been cut into strips, but they could be replaced with pattern paper or really, any scraps lying around in your stash!

©Candles in the Garden. RIC64. Distress Ink coloured / stamped strips and vellum element.

I began by colouring pieces of white cardstock with various Distress Inks (in colours that I thought matched the photo). I also randomly stamped images from the Clearly Besotted You Are set onto the panels in slightly darker ink colours. Then the fun bit – I trimmed each panel into various sized strips and layered them onto a separate piece of cardstock.

©Candles in the Garden. RIC64. Distress Ink coloured / stamped strips and vellum element.

Once I was happy with the arrangement, I adhered the strips onto the piece of cardstock and trimmed down to a rectangle. I foam mounted the panel to my card base and then stamped the border from Pinkfresh Studio’s Hello set around the edges in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

©Candles in the Garden. RIC64. Distress Ink coloured / stamped strips and vellum element.

To finish up the card, I added a die-cut vellum doily and flower (both from WPlus9) along with a sentiment from my pattern paper stash.
