Hi everyone, hope you’re all well!
Today I’m introducing something different on my blog where I prepare three different cards focussed around one stamp set (other stamp sets may be used for sentiments). For the first episode (hopefully in a series of many!), I am showcasing Clearly Besotted’s Geometric Style 1 stamp set. This is what it looks like:
I love stamp sets like this because you can do so many things and create your own awesome backgrounds, which is what I did for two of my cards.
I find tons of inspiration on Pinterest and often pin interesting patterns that leave me thinking, ‘I can do that with a stamp!’. So, for my first card, I created a repeat pattern using the diamond shapes from the set and some gold and silver inks. I’ve posted the inspiration pic next to the card for reference.
The combination of the silver, gold and brown really excited me and once you get into a rhythm, stamping the pattern is a breeze! Start with the solid diamond to stamp the darker areas in a row and then alternate the striped diamonds with gold and silver. Voilà! You’ve created an optical illusion of stacked cubes! The sentiment comes from Kaisercraft’s Texture Birthday stamp.
For my second card, I referenced another awesome pattern and used Distress Inks to create something similar.
I’m a huge fan of bright colours and saw a good opportunity to break out a range of Distress Inks to stamp a background pattern using the solid square image. The result was so intense! The sentiment comes from Mama Elephant’s Many Thanks stamp set.
And for my final card, I went for something one layer, and stamped a pattern diagonally using the solid petal image.
This one had no Pinterest reference, as I wanted to do something different from the other two cards. First, I stamped the back side of the petal image in Shaded Lilac, to give me a bit of a border before stamping the actual image itself in Dusty Concord. I love how you can really stretch your stamps by using this technique! I stamped over the same areas with the crackle texture petal stamp in Seedless Preserves. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.
I hope you enjoyed this episode – am looking forward to challenging myself to stretch the stamp sets that I own and see how far I can take them.
Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!
You are such an inspiration! And THE perfect cardmaker to do a feature like this.
Brilliant, thank you soooo much. I love being given ideas like this, sometimes its so hard to look beyond the obvious. I know when I get a stamp I like to see as many ways as possible to use it to see if its worth the cost. Again thank you, looking forward to more.
