Hey everyone, and happy weekend!
So, I noticed that my fellow design teamie Taheera was hosting her very first challenge on her blog, and when I saw the inspiration pic I knew I wanted to play along. Here’s the moodboard image that could set you off in so many different directions from whimsy to graphic and from bold to subdued:
And here’s my card for the Cure For The Monday Blues Challenge #1 – Bohemian Rhapsody.
I fell for the gorgeous colour palette straight away, and with the Stenciled Online Card Class in the back of my mind, I used some embossing paste and the Ronda Palazzari Mini Honeycomb stencil to create a textured background.
I put two blobs of embossing paste on to my craft mat and added Picked Raspberry reinker to one, and Spiced Marmalade reinker to the other. This coloured up the paste wonderfully! I laid the stencil down on to some white cardstock and swiped the paste across randomly though it created a sort of ombré effect, which was nice 😉
Once dry, I adhered the panel to a card base and went on to create a small vellum pocket – I drew this by hand, folded it up, added some sequins and stitched across the top to seal. I also swiped some Spun Sugar and Dried Marigold Distress Inks across a separate piece of vellum and spritzed with Perfect Pearls. Clipping both pieces together with a mini clothes peg, I adhered to my card front and found this digital stamp from the Little Tangles challenge blog.
I printed the sentiment on some white paper, trimmed it out and adhered to the front of the card.
I think Taheera’s challenges are going to be awesome if this one is anything to go by! Here’s to the next cure for monday blues 😉
Thanks for looking.
